A Look at How it's Done
Blow by Blow

All of my work is created using copper and brass sheet, patina, and other elements such as gold and silver leaf, sterling silver sheet.
I hand work the metal using hammers, burnishers, punches, scribes, textured steel plates, and wood blocks. Many tools I hand make.
After raising, sinking, and stretching the metal into the shape I am looking for it is then cleaned and numerous patinas are applied, drying between layers, until the finished effect is achieved.
The often craggy textures and vivid colors created by the forces of nature inspire my work. By hand forming metal and integrating patinas along with other media, I interpret the visual and emotional beauty created by this timeless action, and the stunning transformations that occur.
Many of my works are named after geological terms used to describe natural formations. Upheaval, texture, erosion and renewal are elements that inspire my work.
